She achieved board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1994, marking the beginning of a long-standing dedication to clinical excellence. Throughout her career, Dr. Crowder has provided comprehensive obstetrical and gynecological care, including structured prenatal care designed to support both maternal and fetal health. Her approach emphasizes trust, communication, and attention to the full scope of patient needs, including emotional and psychosocial well-being. In addition to her clinical work, she contributed to medical education as an Assistant Clinical Instructor at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston, helping to train future physicians in obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Crowder has received multiple professional recognitions, including being named America’s Top Obstetrician and Gynecologist (2004, 2005), Outstanding Physician Award (2005), and Houston Top Doc (2010, 2011). In recent years, her focus has expanded to include two critical issues in modern healthcare: physician burnout and maternal mortality. She advocates for systemic changes that support physicians as human beings—recognizing that the well-being of providers directly impacts patient outcomes. She is also committed to raising awareness about disparities in maternal health, particularly the higher risks faced by Black women in the United States. After relocating to New York to be closer to family, Dr. Crowder chose to continue practicing medicine, reflecting her enduring passion for patient care and purpose-driven work. Her perspective today blends decades of experience with a renewed focus on sustainability in medicine—both for patients and for physicians.
